5 Small Things - February
Chit first early potatoes (and sow sweet peas)
Photograph hearts in nature
Look out for frogspawn in ponds and puddles
Walk amongst the snowdrops - can we paint a picture of them?
Create an early spring flower/foliage arrangement
Writing a list of five seasonal activities at the start of each month has become a habit in our family and one we’ll keep sharing with you all - in case our ideas might inspire you too.
We discuss around the table, so it’s a lesson in diplomacy as much as a way to remember previous years and the slow rituals of each month. It also offers an insight into the nature cycles - we realise how essential each small step is and are less keen to wish time away.
Simple, seasonal, small - but each full of gentle joy and capable of prompting lots of wonderful conversation. From babies, to preschoolers to tweens (and all ages in-between), these activities can soothe an anxious mind and inspire a burst of healing creativity, enabling self-expression.
