Now is the perfect time to collect autumn leaves and wonder at the extraordinary range of beautiful colours. We collected ours on the way home from school and tipped them out in a pile the garden. Now was our opportunity to wonder at the colours on each leaf, for the children to hypothesise about the changes, why does green turn to gold and orange and red? Give them time to think and express their ideas. We sorted by colour and shape, placing the leaves into patterns. It was quite windy so our leaves kept blowing away, but we had fun chasing them round the garden!
